
Tiffany grew up in Capitol Heights and was raised by a single mom. When she was in 5th
grade at Seat Pleasant Elementary School, she was a part of the I Have a Dream program that
provided scholarships to all of the 5th graders at that school so long as they graduated from high
school. She graduated from Central High School then went on to the University of Maryland
where she studied Criminology and Criminal Justice. After College she continued her education
at David A. Clarke School of Law in Washington DC.
Tiffany is no stranger to hard work starting her first job with her mom when she was 14
by answering phones and renting apartments with her mom. In college, for volunteered for
AmeriCorps as a student teacher in DC Public Schools. In the late 1990’s, worked for the
Department of Justice at the National Institute of Justice where she was honored to worked on
task force that studied the effects of date rape drugs. She was a part of the publication team and
was allowed to participate in the briefing of the first female Attorney General Janet Reno.
Although still a college student Tiffany was listed on the publication of this report.
After law school, Tiffany was appointed by the Governor of the State of Maryland to be
the Chief of Staff to the Commission of Corrections. Tiffany obtained her law license from the
State of Maryland in 2004. She is a practicing attorney and trained mediator and founder of
Alston Gray & Associates, LLC, a law firm in Prince George’s County Maryland. Tiffany
worked as a stay-at-home mom and wife for almost 10 years with the support of her husband.
She credits this as the most rewarding and difficult job of her career.
Tiffany is a state Delegate serving the 24th Legislative District of Maryland with a proven track record of success. She sits on
the Health and Government Operations Committee. The Speaker of the House of Delegates has
appointed her as 1 of two members of the entire House to serve on the State’s Medicaid Advisory
Committee and the Oversight Committee for Nursing Homes and Assisted Livings. In the
legislature she is a member of the Maryland Legislative Black Caucus, the Women’s Caucus, and
the Latino Caucus. Delegate Alston is in senior leadership of the House of Delegates serving as
the Chief Deputy Whip and Deputy Parliamentary.
Tiffany has served her community in many ways including being a member of the
Maryland General Assembly in 2011; Member, Maryland State Bar Association 2004-2011
(Chair of the Correctional Reform Section of the State Bar, 2007); Maryland Black Women’s
Bar Association where she was President, 2007; J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association where she
served as Treasurer, 2008; Mentor, I Have a Dream Foundation, 1995-2003; Teacher with
National Campaign for Financial Literacy (2018-present) Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority,
Incorporated since 2000.
Tiffany and her husband live in Bowie and they are the parents of one young adult.
